Day 5 - Chengde - Beijing

As per my previous post, for Day 5 - we conquered the Mountain Resort. It was really a very big place - dunno compared to which place in Penang - but it was just BIG! It would take you one whole day to explore and the resort has now been turned to a ppl's park to pass time and have family gatherings there.

We were a bit loss but whatever it is, we just went to the well known parts where the Emperor went i.e The Misty Rain Tower & The Hot River Spring. Some photos for viewing. Recommended to go during Spring or Winter.

Some brief intro about the history - no time to read there- so simply snap

The Misty Rain Tower

The Hot River Spring - the water will remain the same temp even during winter

After spending about 2 hrs there, we then proceed to the Little Patola temple. The temple looks like a Lhasa temple in Tibet. It was explained by the local tour guide that it was modelled after the temple in Tibet and that the emperor had a strong belief in Buddhism. As the saying goes, if you can't beat them - then join them ! So if the emperor can't go to Tibet - he will bring Tibet to Beijing. Also, if you do notice, all the windows were being sealed too - why ? For you to find out and for me to know ...kekekeke

After the visit to the temple, we then called it a day for Day 5 as we had to travel back to Beijing again. This time, we arrived at about 5pm in Beijing and dinner was at the hotel. We checked into the Qiaobo ski & snowboard resort- a new resort that was built last yr. Actually not resort la - just hotel but got ski facilities only. Name saje yang glamour....kekeke

Some photos of the hotel and the skiing place

We stayed one night at the Ski Resort before we proceed to Tianjin - a well known port in China (like our Port Klang) to get some local delicacies and food. Nothing much also ler cos we don't know how to eat those sweet and sour stuff. Just bought back some souvenirs and makan stuff for family and friends. Silkmarket would be the name of the shopping complex where you can get everything & the secret is to bargain. They start with really very high prices, so the only way is to bargain your way down !

Tianjin City - half an hr ride with MRT/bullet train to Beijing

We reached Beijing about 6 plus before we proceed to The Place - Sky Media - another innovative billboard from the Chinese ppl..Very creative indeed. Once done, we proceed with the city tour to view the CCTV tower and we then called it a day with dinner and hotel.

The day ended with day 7 - where we took a 6 hrs flight back to Malaysia. It was overall a good vacation for both of us after a lapse of 2 yrs. No doubt, the trip to Beijing may not be as 'shiok' as Japan but after the trip, I think we will appreciate Chinese history and movies more. No doubt it was a short trip, we did enjoyed ourselves and we had a good time spent in Beijing...and look what we took back for our little boy.....
