Journal Entry 171
Woke up early for breakfast before we set foot to Germany. Yes, the all time favorite Nutella !! Adored it so much :)

| Who would say NO for Nutella ??? Hehehe |
Well, since it was still early to get on the bus, we took the opportunity to get a few snapshots along Lake Lucerne (a lake in central Switzerland) against the Swiss Alps. The view was simply awesome with the colors of autumn and maple leaves all over ! Managed to get some shots from our hotel too :)

All done, it was time for us to move on. Stopped by Lucerne city to see the most mournful sculpture in the world - The Lion Monument. It was built in the 17th century to commemorate the Swiss Guards who were massacred during the French Revolution. The sculpture symbolises a mortally-wounded lion in memory of the loyal and brave Swiss soldiers that had passed on. Took a few snapshots and we proceed to Rhinefall .

The journey to Rhine Falls (Rheinfall ) took about an hour or so and is the largest waterfall in Europe. It was cooling & of course a beautiful sight from a far.

We then continued our journey to Lake Titisee which was located in the southern part of Black forest, Germany. Yes, you hear me right. Germany ! The land of cuckoo clocks, pork knuckles and black forest cake ! Eating time :). Okay, I may be a bit 'sampat' but it is always good to try out authentic pork knuckles & cakes when in Germany :). Reached the lake around noon time and we had a good lunch for about an hr.

Verdict : Authentic German Pork knuckles were a bit too dry for me & the Black Forest cake was not too sweet - pretty good and soft. Need to eat with the icing to feel the taste.
Hahaha, done with makan , it is time to see how cuckoo clocks were made. A simple, strong wood turned to a beautiful clock ! It took us about half an hr to see the demo. Done with that, we went for a stroll & the cool breeze along the lake was an added bonus for us. Sigh, we don't always get this kind of weather in Malaysia right - so, ini-lah masanya :).
Overall, it is a nice lakeside town with beautiful scenery, fresh air and plenty of souvenirs shop for window shopping. A good transit place for travelers .

Times up and it is back to the bus again to Heidelberg to visit the Old Town (Altstadt) and the Carl Theodor bridge along the Necker River. It was about a 2 hr journey from Black Forest to Heidelberg. We stopped by the place for dinner and for some sightseeing. Lovely Old bridge & I guess the main attraction were the brass monkey and the mice. If you touched the mice, you will get more children & if you touched the mirror that the monkey is holding, you will be wealthier. Well, old tales - good to know though :).

After dinner, we had a stroll at Old Town. Night view was nice and the buildings were lighted up to bring the romantic ambiance for the tourist alike. It is basically one long cobblestone pedestrian street along old buildings. Spent about an hour there and with that, we called it a day. Back to the hotel in about half an hr and had supper with wine.

Another day well spent :).
Till the next day, Day 4 : Heidelberg-Cologne-Amsterdam
