The Finale ~ Day 8 : City of Paris (Sightseeing) & Eiffel Tower

Journal Entry 216

Woke up to the weather of around 20 degrees -with sunny weather before we embark on a city tour of Paris and to experience the life of a Parisian. Our tour is inclusive of a French tour guide (a must to have when we tour in Paris) - who speaks quite good English . We picked her up from Eiffel Tower before we started our half day tour around the city.

1st stop - Trocardero - we went there the night before. Frankly speaking, this is the best place to view the tower from a far. Situated up in the hill, it is a plaza that stands across the river from the tower. Took some creative shots and spent about 15 mins there before we leave the place for Arc De Triomphe.

The next stop was about a 10 mins ride from Trocardero. As we were also there the night before,  the morning view looks a bit different with fewer cars on the road. Of course, night view is way much better ! Well, this Triumphal Arch is basically situated in the middle of a roundabout & was built in the 18th century to honour the soldiers who fought and died for France during the Napolean war. Also, beneath it's vault lies the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War 1. Didn't manage to see as we only had little time.

Next up, will be the Louvre Museum. We didn't go in the museum as it was supposed to be a city tour rather than a museum tour. Heard that it will take at least half a day to complete the viewing of the whole place. So no Mona Lisa for me :(. Anyway, I am happy enough just to be able to view from outside. Spent about half an hr there.

With that, lunch time came and all of us went to a nearby Chinese restaurant to have our lunch. 2nd half of the day were reserved for the Seine River cruise and of course the level 2 of Eiffel tower. We part with our tour guide during lunch and our local guide took charge again.

River cruise first followed by Eiffel. Queuing was made easy for us as everything had been pre-booked. The cruise went pretty well & we saw a lot of nice buildings and architecture. We missed seeing the Notre Dame and only had a quick glimpse as our boat passed thru it. The whole cruise took about 45 mins or so.

We came back to the same position we queued & from there, we move on to Eiffel Tower. Our guide had asked us to be careful of pickpockets & small little kids asking for signatures. Well, once you have signed on it, they will ask you for money. This happened right in front of our eyes....Facepalm :(:(. Anyway, we went up level 2 & behold, the view up there was amazing and you can see the whole city of Paris from there. Really beautiful :). Took some selfies at the top overlooking the city.

Well, that marks the end of my Europe trip with the last stop at Paris. It has been an awesome and wonderful trip spent with hubs and indeed, time well spent !

No doubt, the travelling is pretty far - I must admit that I love every second of it !!
