Day 3 Finale : Matt's Maiden Trip to The Lion City : Singapore City

Journal Entry 228

Happpy Mid Autum Everyone ! Yes, post delayed again.

Well, let's continue with Day 3 in Singapore. It was more of a relaxing day for us as we were now done with both SEA Aquarium & USS. Got up around 9 in the morning to head for breakfast. Decided to take a walk to Resort World since we have all the time in the world (before checkout) and to get some last minute souvenirs (in case we did missed some out).

We opted for Slappy Cakes since Matt is a huge fan of pancakes. He loves it to bits - anything made of flours serves him well. Read from a review that it is quite a popular breakfast spot in the US with it's 'Make Your Own' pancake concept. Ordered butter milk with some chocolates and bananas to complement the pancake. One then makes them into whatever size on built in griddles on the table. Aside to that, American breakfast were served as well. We had one too ! It was fun and unique :):) - I guess ...& most importantly, Matt enjoyed it.

Done with breakfast, we then walked back to our hotel which were a few blocks away. We dropped by the park leading to the hotel and took some photos there. It was 18 yrs since the hubby & I took a shot in front of the Merlion. It was a walk down memory lane for us as we are now a family of three, Took the same photo at the very same spot !

Just the 3 of us

Afternoon came and it was time to hit the city. Took a cab down and checked into Grand Hyatt -  the one night stay was redeemed as hubby had some points from his previous travels to Sg. Checked in & had a quick bath before we hit the streets of Singapore. Hmm, another busy city & we walked around Orchard Rd. Went for window shopping at Ngee Ann City or many locals refer it to it's anchor tenant 'Taka', Lucky Plaza (a fav among the Filipinos) and ION Orchard. Did not purchase anything- hmm, not really into shopping :) so, we dropped by one of the malls for lunch.

Again, no time to swim

As Matt normally needs his afternoon nap, we went back to the hotel and had some rest. Evening came & it was time to meet Uncle Alf and Aunt Cindy. Alf being as generous as always had wanted to treat me to Jamie's Italian - knowing that I am a great fan of the well known chef's cookbooks and shows ! Well, other than him, I do adore Michael Smith and Gordon Ramsay (loved his Ultimate Home Cooking series !) & anything that is aired on AFC !!  Ok, tell me about food and I will go berserk & ga-ga over it !

So, off we went to Vivo City - which was pretty near Sentosa on a cab. Didn' t take the MRT as we weren't too familiar with it. Got that early so that we can laze around the mall and we did some window shopping here and there. Cindy managed to book the place for us (er, it wasn't that packed when we got there ) & we waited for Alf. Ordered pastas & some desserts thereafter & did some catching up with the host. Some of the dishes we ordered.

It was a great night spent with them & we called it a day at 9 plus. They looked tired though and was really thankful that we met. It was a working day for them in btw. Thanks for the treat Alf !! This time around - we took the MRT back as Cindy and Alf accompanied us. Reached around 11 & got Matt ready for bed. We flew back the next day at noon time.

Overall, it has been a wonderful trip for the 3 of us and time were well spent as a family together.

Hmm, perhaps another Ipoh-KL getaway end of this yr would do justice !! Thanks for the recommendation The Nyonya Diaries - will definitely try out the new places in Ipoh as suggested :)

Good night !
