Day 1 : Matt's Maiden trip to The Lion City : SEA Aquarium

Journal Entry 226

The husband had lesser business travels this yr (in fact none to date- tee hee !) and that makes the Mrs & the Master much happier. You know la, it is always hard to plan for a holiday when there is an 'unexpected ad-hoc' business travel like  ' You need to travel to XXX by XXX !

Having said that, the hubs unexpectedly proposed for a trip down to Sg to celebrate my birthday and at the same time, have Matt tag along for his first ever holiday in a different country. Happiness !! I am as excited as my little boy. Hubby did the bookings and off we went. It was going to be a 4 days 3 nights Sentosa & City stay.

At Siloso reception

We decided to confine ourselves to Sentosa for 3 days so that it will be easier to move around the hotels. Yes, I know - no one stays in Sentosa cos it is expensive ! But, thank God - hubby got some discounts from Expedia and managed to get the least a cheaper rate :). I normally go for budget/boutique hotels but sometimes, we got to love ourselves a lil bit more ! I am quite a cheapskate at times :):)

Our first stop was The Siloso Beach Resort. This eco-friendly resort had been around for a while & is quite popular among the locals. In fact, Matt met a friendly squirrel there & he stood there watching - well, talk about being close to nature ! No doubt the rooms may be a lil bit run-down & old but the good thing is that the place is still being kept cleaned. The pool was just awesome & big ! Checked in around noon time before we proceed to the SEA Aquarium to get our tickets. Well, the best part of staying in Sentosa would definitely be the beach trams. Free & easily available within minutes to the beach station.

It took us 10 mins to get to the Beach Station which we then took the monorail to Universal Studio. The SEA Aquarium was just next to it . Had lunch there. It was a whole day trip so we took our time .  A reminder - before entering the aquarium, make sure you don't miss the Typhoon Theater. I am not going to tell much but it is definitely one unique, unexpected experience to get in the aquarium :).

It was really big ! The tanks were set up really well  & it is definitely worth visiting. There is also a huge oceanarium, a walk-thru shark and stingray tunnel, discovery touch pools and heaps to see and not to mention, the beautiful manta rays swimming around.  You feel like Spongebob under the sea !!  Anyhow, we spent around 2 hrs there before we proceed back to the hotel.

What a big tank !

Jelly fish !!

It was evening when we ended our visit to the place. Checked in to our room with our luggage and had a good bath. As it was approaching evening, we decided to go for Wings of Time which was around a 25 mins show with magical lights and music reflected thru laser. Dancing lights to be exact !! Starts at dusk and the show ended with beautiful fireworks.

Went off for dinner there after. Had pizza & penne carbonara at Coastes. Food was expensive - a lil bit touristy. The food was okay, not bad but again, it would be good if the place is lighted up a bit :)

Done with dinner, we went for a walk along Siloso beach. Called it a day at 10.30pm as we were quite tired - with the flight and etc .

Till then, Day 2 coming up.

Hmm, what a name :)
